IN 1668 – Removal of T1 Membership Category for Training Providers Offering In-Water Training of Commercial Divers

In November 2022, IMCA Information Note 1625 introduced the T1 category of membership for training providers offering in-water training of commercial divers.

During 2023, IMCA monitored interest in this category and, after review by the IMCA’s board and Diving Division Management Committee, the decision has been taken that it is impractical for IMCA to continue with the T1 category of membership.

In view of this, the T1 category of membership has been withdrawn and IMCA will no longer be directly involved in in-water diver training.

IMCA will continue to influence in-water diver training through participation in the International Diving Regulators and Certifiers Forum.

In order to ensure dive schools have access to contemporary IMCA guidance, a registration scheme for dive schools offering in-water training will be set up later in the year.
