Writing a Safety Flash

IMCA safety flashes should be succinct, specific, factually correct, and written in as clear and precise language as possible. Browse our archive of more than 2,000 safety flashes for inspiration.

All submissions are handled in the strictest of confidence, with information completely anonymised, checked, and published only after clear permission has been granted. We understand that some incidents can only be shared after legal advice has been sought, but we encourage members – and others – to share as much as practical, as soon as possible.

A safety flash should provide sufficient detail and communicate risks, precautions, and necessary actions effectively – without sharing unnecessary information about the people, organisations, or projects involved.

A template is available, but submissions are accepted in any format. Additional diagrams, photos, videos, or other supporting materials can be shared as individual files.

Submit your report to safetyreports@imca-int.com. For large attachments, share your online files with this address using your chosen service.
