Ensuring the right approach and properly functioning equipment is essential to safe lifting operations.
We have two related videos on Lifting. One explores Lifting Operations and covers the very basics of safe lifting operation, including the importance of effective lift planning, risk assessment, and competence, and checking that everyone who might be affected by the job has been told about it, and that the appropriate permission to go ahead has been given.
The second covers Lifting Equipment which reinforces the need to check equipment before any lift takes place. Make sure you know the company’s procedures, site rules, and all potential hazards. Ensure the equipment you’re using is properly certified and suitable for the lift. Look for signs of wear and check that equipment is in good condition.
