The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) is pleased to welcome Jim Cullen as its new technical director.
Jim has over 30 years’ experience in the marine contracting industry as an engineer, project manager, project director and HSEQ director. This included working internationally on projects in the UK, South Korea, Canada, Azerbaijan, and Angola.
He joined the Brown & Root graduate engineer development scheme in 1990, advancing through the organisation and working on onshore and offshore projects. In 2006, Jim joined Subsea 7 in their London office as part of the core team establishing a new engineering and project management centre.
In the subsequent 10-year period he focused on large projects offshore in West Africa. Latterly he spent six years as HSEQ Director for the Global Projects Centre, and in early 2022 he set up his own consultancy business.
Jim has a BEng degree from Newcastle University and is a chartered marine engineer in the UK.
Commenting on his appointment, Allen Leatt, IMCA CEO, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Jim to IMCA as our new technical director. His extensive experience of marine contracting gives him an in-depth understanding of both our sector and our members’ needs. This will be a huge asset as we aim to better support our industry through the challenges and opportunities which lie ahead.”
Jim Cullen, Technical Director at IMCA, added: “Joining IMCA is an incredible opportunity to give back to an industry which has given me so much on both a personal and professional level. I’m looking forward to working with the team – all subject-matter experts in their own right – and helping IMCA to continue to support the improvement of our industry.”
