Safety Seminar: Attracting and keeping the right people

How the offshore industry identifies, recruits, trains and retains appropriately skilled and competent people to do a safe job is the focus of an upcoming IMCA Safety Seminar on Tuesday 6 June 2023.

The one-day event, which takes place in Amsterdam, will bring the industry together to explore the major issues facing the sector, notably how we can recruit and retain the right people and ensure effective onboarding and retention.

With a full programme of high-profile industry speakers and interactive sessions, the Seminar outcomes will feed into IMCA’s work programme in this space offering attendees the opportunity to shape the future of safety in our industry. The event will also see the presentation of the IMCA Safety Awards for 2022.

Among these will be Iain Grainger, incoming CEO, who will be presenting IMCA’s role in safety and the latest cross-industry statistics in his first speaking engagement as CEO of the international membership organisation.

He joins speakers from a broad cross-section of the industry including regulators and members, Danish Maritime Accident Investigation Board, Equinor, MMA Offshore, P&O Maritime Logistics, Caledonia Competence, Fugro, TechnipFMC, Heerema and Subsea7.

Some of the topics discussed will be communication and the use of AI in onboarding, how we can address human factors, the importance of leadership and engagement, effective competence, and training in today’s environment, overcoming systemic barriers for women in our workplaces, and the importance of predicable performance.

This is a great opportunity for us to come together to explore the key safety issues facing our industry today. We’ve put together a programme which is both informative and engaging which will ensure attendees leave with an understanding of the latest insight and best-practice, as well as plenty of tangible takeaways.
