A busy summer of Member and stakeholder engagement

Following an extensive programme of speaking events and individual engagements with Committee and Board members, recently appointed CEO Iain Grainger has been meeting a number of external stakeholders.

In late July, Iain and Technical Director Jim Cullen visited the Oil Companies International Marine Forum’s (OCIMF) London office to meet with Managing Director Karen Davis and Offshore Advisor Graham Coles.

In August, Iain visited the Kincardine floating wind farm project located 15 km off the coast of Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Joining him on the trip was our Director for Client Engagement – Europe & Africa David Bloom.

The pair were shown around by Flotation Energy, one of our UK based Members. The farm, which operates at depths of 60 to 80 metres, is currently the largest offshore floating wind farm in the world, generating over 47MW of energy every year.

Iain and David followed this with a visit to Global Underwater Hub’s (GUH) head office in Aberdeen where they met CEO Neil Gordon who showed them around the premises before discussing potential areas of collaboration.

Visit from a former CEO

Iain and Jim Cullen also had the pleasure of a visit from Tony Read, former IMCA CEO who was in post from 1997 to 2002.

During his tenure Mr Read modernised the Association with the first ever IMCA website and the introduction of email communication.

At a time when Membership was assessed through word of mouth, he introduced processes to better evaluate the quality of Members, one of his lasting achievements was securing a place at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) for IMCA, a position which we still hold and which ensures we can contribute to discussions affecting the offshore industry.

Looking ahead

As we move into Autumn, Iain Grainger will continue his programme of Member and stakeholder engagement, including at our upcoming IMCA Regional Meetings in Dubai, Houston and Rio and is scheduled to attend a number of major industry conferences in the USA, Middle East, and Asia, including Reuters Offshore & Floating Wind Europe in London.
