IMCA has joined The Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping as a Mission Ambassador.
The World’s 100,000 commercial vessels consume around 300 million tons of fuel every year making shipping accountable for around 3% of global carbon emissions. The not-for-profit, independent research and development organisation exists to accelerate the sustainable transition towards a Net Zero future for the maritime industry through collaboration, applied research, and regulatory reform.
As a Mission Ambassador, IMCA will share insights, knowledge, and research from the marine contracting industry with the Center and input into its research and work programme.
Commenting on the news, Allen Leatt, outgoing IMCA CEO, said: “While our sector is a specialist niche within the much larger global maritime industry, our members’ hands-on experience of offshore energy means we are crucial stakeholders with a strong and relevant voice.”

The Center has developed several trial projects across ship design, power solutions, safety and operations, biofuels, life-cycle assessment, fuel concepts, green corridors, and ship technology, to support the sustainable transition to Net Zero.
